I had just turned 29 and had gastric sleeve. About 6 days later I experienced a high fever, dizziness, and overall bleh feeling. (Sepsis and Surgery) I had gone to the ER and was advised I was going in septic shock. They couldn’t get a blood pressure reading on me, had a super elevated heart rate, and high fever. It was soon discovered that the gastric sleeve leaked. The quick actions of the nurses and doctors that evening were able to get me stabilized and transported to a bigger hospital. I spent 5 days in ICU and another 4 days in MedSurg. 9 more surgeries, 6 weeks of TPN, 6 weeks of infusions, and endless appointments. The quick actions that night saved my life. Forever grateful.
